Opportunity

Globally, less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled with the remaining sent to landfills or incinerators. The waste plastic industry accounts for nearly 5% of global CO2 emissions. More than 90% of plastic ends up in landfills, oceans and air, harming life on the planet.

8 million tons of plastic enters oceans every year, enough to cover every foot of coastline on the planet! And it is projected to triple by 2040.

Traditional recycling works well for clean, sorted single-material streams, but limitations like degradation and contamination make it challenging to recycle common plastics. Advanced recycling is seen as a gamechanger.

How plastic chemicals
enter food and create problems

Plastics into food
Plastics into food

Bisphenols and phthalates in our food are concerning for several reasons. To start, growing research shows that they are endocrine disruptors, which means that they can interfere with the production and regulation of estrogen and other hormones.

Researchers from Columbia University and Rutgers University found roughly 240,000 detectable plastic fragments in a typical liter of bottled water, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The long-term health impacts are unknown.

Solutions

Ecocyclic seeks to decarbonize the municipal waste plastic industry by upcycling low quality waste into high quality energy products through a novel low-energy intensity advanced recycling process.

We partner with specialists to deliver a cutting-edge recycling solution: energy-efficient, modular, green and rapidly deployable near waste sources. This eliminates reliance on complex supply chains, minimizing the carbon footprint.

Solution

Ecocyclic’s green, energy-efficient process converts plastic waste into high-quality pyrolysis oil used to produce new circular plastics, keeping plastics out of our oceans and landfills.

Low Energy Intensity

Producing new Plastics from Recycle waste plastics is up to 7 times less energy intensive than from fossil fuels

Offset CO2 Emissions

A 1000-ton plastic recycling offsets 1 Million tons of CO2 per year or equivalent to emissions from about 200,000 people

Circular Economy

Recover over 80% of used plastic to raw material and remake new plastic again and again and avoid waste creation

Premium Quality

High yield premium pyrolysis oil due to combination of patented features and optimal process control using AI

Wide range of Plastics

Difficult to recycle waste consisting of wide mix of plastic feedstock

Modular technology

Allows for scalability and efficient operations

Ecocyclic advanced recycling contributes to 8 of 17 sustainable development goals as defined by the United Nations.
